Monster Hunter 2
June 1, 2005 - Monster Hunter Portable isn't the only new Monster Hunter game in development. Sources in Japan reveal that Capcom will announce, later this week, Monster Hunter 2 for the PlayStation 2.Unlike last year's Monster Hunter G expansion pack, Monster Hunter 2 is a full blown sequel to the original Online hit. Capcom is reportedly preparing a number of new gameplay systems for the title -- so many, in fact, that current Monster Hunter players will not be able to use their old character data.Monster Hunter 2 will focus more closely on giving players the feeling of living the life of a hunter. Time will now flow in the game, with appropriate changes to the fields of play and the enemies that populate them. You'll also get a better sense of being part of a town.Capcom plans on beefing up both Online and Offline play for Monster Hunter 2. All modes will benefit from new weapons, new fields of play, including a desert, junkle and snowy mountain, and new monsters. When playing Online, you'll have the feeling of being in the same world as everyone who's currently logged into the game.PSP connectivity is also being planned for Monster Hunter 2. While we don't have details just yet, Capcom hopes to get Monster Hunter Portable and Monster Hunter 2 out close to one another.
