It takes a few days, and trust me it's worth it. It happens in 4 steps, and each step happens after you sleep. First time you wake up after a "Vampire Dream" you get a cool spell that costs 5 mana and lets you have 120m detect life and night vision, and you get +5 to most of your attributes. By the time you get to the 4th stage (lots of sleeping) you have +20 to most all of your stuff (so overpowerd it's broken), 3-4 cool spells, -10% melee damage taken, +40% fire damage taken, and the sun kills you in about 10 seconds. But it's worth it! Just play the game at night. Aaaannnndd.. when you want to talk to people, you kind of can't. They look at you and go "AUGH GET AWAY!". So you need to sneak up on someone who is sleeping, use them and "Feed", which will take you back to Vampire stage 1. People will talk to you again, and the sun dosen't hurt. But you lose the extra 15 points bonus. Just do the quest and sleep a lot to get back to stage 4. I have a Khajiit Theif, who is a vampire. He jumps like he's on the moon and he can run really fast while sneaking. I'm addicted. :(

To clear it up for anyone else it takes a few days after you catch the sickness to start working.

"Polysomething Hemophelia" lol :P That would be the vampire disease. Also, if you catch it and have it no longer than 3 days it's said that The Alter of Nines can cleanse it off of you. So head to Skingrad and cleanse asap if you catch it, otherwise it's a bugger. (but fun) As vauce said, people also don't talk to you unless your in stage 1, so it's kind of an inconvience more than benificial.

Yeah, I didn't know that was the vampire disease. I just used a cure disease potion each time I got it.Also, for information on vampires:http://xe360.com/article/The_Elder_Scro ... /3233.html

Update! Ok ok, I got to level 19 or something with my warrior when I got to thinking, "Why the hell am I not a theif?" So I dumped all my Heavy Armor (Orcish and Dwarven made mix) and my heavy weapons (A wicked sweet Elven Sword) and began my life as a nearly naked theif! This game is sooooooo freaking amazing. There's so much to do, and so much to see! OH! And I caught a unicorn in the woods before, I had to sneak up behind it to ride it, but when ever I got off of it, it started to kill me  AND I HAVE A AMULATE OF SEA WALKING!PS: I finally got my Strength and Endurance attributes up to 100, yay! Now I'm leveling up my agility, personality and probably willpower, hooray!

Yeah well I started playing this right, and I found a bow in the opening sequences. Well, due to my ownage in general, I shot an arrow and it killed everything in every city in the entire game. Pretty much ruined it for myself.

I've kinda dumped my kitty cat for now. Been playing my archer/assassin and I've gotten him to level 23, and did all the dark brotherhood quests. THOSE QUESTS ARE AMAZING! I think I'll start working on the main story again, then maybe I'll check out the theives guild and see what they have to offer. Oh yea, I'm the arena grand champion too! 8)
