She's most likely linked somehow to Gravemind, that demonic sounding voice in the background you hear is Gravemind's. I think that if there is a link between them, and she's dealing with a lot of information processing, it's forcing her to run rampant. Something that happens to all AI's in both Bungies Marathon and Halo stories.She's basically going crazy before she finally dies off. AI's usually have a short life span, so her time is nearly up. Especially with the amount of information she's had to go through during Halo and Halo 2, it'd most definatly kill her off earlier than expected.I suspect that because of her rampancy, she's willing to set off the Halos to kill the flood. No longer really caring about the human race anymore. But I still think there's a piece of her fighting against these problems. More for her relationship with the Chief than anything else.

I think it would ruin the story for Cortona to be evil. Although it should stay a mystery of what has become of her. I think that might be one of the main parts to Halo 3.

you think what happens to her should be a mystery? its the last halo. i would think they would tell everything that is going to happen. I dont think they would want to leave the story ending with things unanswered, thats what got halo 2 bad reviews, because of the way the story left off. with halo 3 however, halo 2 might be more appreciated because of what they did. I always looked forward to fighting more in the city like the original first gameplay trailers of halo 2. That was also when the battle rifle as able to do either single shot or 3 shot.

you guys spend too much time thinking about storylines and not enough on how good the gameplay is. : P

so bungie gave a little tidbit about a new creature in the covenant race a little bigger then a grunt. also new and improved ai(which everyone im sure expected) exiting

I thought it was a little late to be introducing new races. Halo 3 should start exactly where Halo 2 left off. On the Forunner ship. At that point, the Elites are at war against the Brutes and Prophets; and the remaining Covenent are headed to Earth. I don't see how they have time to intergrate more races into the Covenent.

Somehow, MC eventually recieves transmissions and we never know what happens to her until we go back. No spoilers. I hope MC doesn't stay on Earth the whole time.

well its for sure they are introducing new races. you can see a small picture of it on the documentary released. its on the background computer.
