Computer DNS Issue. (need help?!)
I'm not that noob when it comes to computers but does anyone hopefully have a quickfix for this? I play Guild Wars awefully a lot lately and it seems the problem keeps getting worse, it's like a total disconnection of the internet (so including the game itself, MSN and I.E....now I know it's not the cables and not the router (it's a wireless belkin one, though my computer is linked to it by wire). However I notice sometimes it can't find the DNS, i've tried other pcs (wireless) and they work just fine on the same router......sometimes the internet is back up fast, but sometimes it takes a while.Using windows XP Pro SP1 (i dont wanna upgrade since i never had a problem like this before)hopefully anyone can come up with a quickfix, otherwise i'll have to format and see if it still occurs, the networkcard (onboard 100 mbit) seems to be ok tooit used to work fine and i thought i could blame Guild Wars but it now even happens when Ã'm surfing the internet or doing nothing at all on the computerI have no virusscanner so it could be a nasty virus too, so if no one can come up with a quickfix i'll format, thanks for your help in advance!

I had the same problem, Step. My internet was cutting out. We tried a lot to fix it.Using a new wire from router to comp, using a different network card, reformatting, trying different settings on my computer and the router. We eventually called the Cumcast guys out here to figure it out, and they decided to rewire the house. That didn't fix it. We bought a new router and everything is fine now. Weird thing though, is that my parents' PCs were fine when mine was off, but when mine came on, it fucked up their connection. If applicable, see if any of your friends would be willing to let you borrow their router for a bit and try using that just as a troubleshooter.
