PS3 and its online service:
http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?ar ... &page=1The site where I found this also wrote this:Console life cycle = 4 years1 year Xbox Live service - ~$504 x 50 = $200, or the Price Difference Between the 360 and the PS3.Hmm.
paying an additional $200+ up front is harder than payng it over the course of 4 years tho, lolTrue, but I'd rather pay $200 up front for eternal free use than $50 a year for the rest of the consoles life. Especially considering the console might be around for more than 4 years... the PS2 for example has been out for 6 years already. Also, you're getting more for the price as it is than the 360. 60gb HD instead of 20gb, Blu-ray disc support as well as DVD and full backwards compatiblity with PS & PS2 games compared to the shambles that is the 360 backwards compatibility, built-in wi-fi, flash card reader etc. It's still a lot of money, but I believe you get a lot more for your dosh than with the 360 which is still yet to impress me. I guess time will tell!
Plastation online is good for free, but I doubt the service will be as good as XBox live. Microsoft have had time to build up a good serice, and most the time when Sony do something like this, it sucks. And people don't mind paying these days, for a beter service. Also, Sony have left it open for developers to charge for playing their games online. So is it really going to be free?
