2007 Top Games

Which games this year have stood out the most for you and why?Orange BoxIt was great going through the Half Life games again and Episode II certainly didn't disappoint. But the reason this stood out for me has to be Portal - what a sexy little game this is. It'll only last you a few hours unless you're going for gold in all the bonus rounds, but Portal manages to be clever and extremely funny, with it's tongue wedged firmly into it's own cheek.Call of Duty 4One of the best single player FPS games (if a little short) and bloody hard to boot. The multiplayer is great fun but dammit, it really gets on my tits when you empty an entire magazine of bullets into someones head and they don't die, but then they shoot a single bullet into your foot and you keel over faster than Rod Hull fixing a TV (Brit joke). More of you fuckers need to get on this.Brave StoryNot a widely known game, this game kept me entertained during those lonely overnight work trips and I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Nothing amazing story-wise but a good laugh and some funky graphics which seemed more like PS2 than PSP.Assassins CreedI've griped about the repetitiveness of this game in other threads, but it's still th'uper kewl running around assassinating people and throwing beggars into walls and shit. Oh you want some change do ya? How about some wall-in-the-face, how does that sound bitch? POW. You could probably piss through this game in a few hours if you don't bother doing any of the little bonus missions.God of War IIAlmost forgot about this one, seems like it was last year it came out it was that long ago. I love how the GoW games throw you right in at the deep end with a monumental boss fight within the first hour of playing. It has computer boobies too *snort snort*. Top sequel to a top game and I imagine the 3rd one will sell a fair few PS3's when it comes out. Kratos is one badass mofo, reminds me of myself at times. Rar.

I just got COD4 at a LAN party a few days ago. Unfortuantly I can't go online. But the single player is amazing.

crysis: just loved it, to bad my pc could not run it at highest settings but normal did well. a normal first person shooter but the suit abilities just gave it an extra flavour, and my god isnt that gaus rifle just a sexy thing.

Excellent topic and review of some games, Snapples. I really need to pick up Assassins Creed (if only because it says "ass" twice in the title! *giggle*) and COD4. My favorite games so far this year would have to be as follows:Rock BandI'm so freaking impressed by this game every time I play it. It takes everything Guitar Hero had going for it, and expands it so well. The master tracks are so cool to be able to pick/drum/sing/listen along to. And I've never had a game that involved my friends so much, because it's so easy for them to jump on in and try their hand out at bass or, God forbid, singing.Halo 3I know I know I know, it's HALO for goodness sakes. Some people are going to hate this, but this game really is just a good lot of fun for multiplayer. Getting your buds together in a party to rip through some matchmaking whilst making fun of the 12 year olds screaming in your ears never gets old. Sure the single player story blew chunks, but it's hard to find a game that's as accessible and more fun for online multiplayer shoot-em-ups.And lastly, would beSkateThis game completely changed my views on skateboarding games. The controls are so intuitive and natural, it's incredible fun. Roaming around the huge city with a skateboard tricking off anything you see never gets old. A very solid game.
