What spices do and what u need to make them...
Everything below is a post by a friend of mine who was a smug in beta so i jsut copy and pasted..._____________________________________________________________ I made it thru Spices IV in Beta so I learned a bit about this discipline & thought I'd share it with other Smugglers just starting out. First of all the only Spice that was described as being illegal or outlawed was the novice level spie Scramjet. The others might be frowned upon by the Empire but weren't mentioned as being illegal.Bear in mind that spices are very beneficial but they do have a downer effect afterwards - which btw can be quite amusing at times. Btw I don't like it when people refer to spices as drugs & us smugglers as drug dealers. I feel we're providing a much needed service & prefer to be referred to as a "Pharmaceutical Merchant". You'll find some players will feel they're taking the high road & say they don't take spices (as if they're morally superior). Remind these people that they seem to have no problem using medicines such as stims (short for stimulants), doctor medicines which are buffs, and foods which are buffs. Our spices just extend this buffing & healing (yes spices can be used to heal). Some spices boost stats immediately, others take from 1-5 minutes to build up to their full maximum potential - kind of like a regen. Because spices boost stats they can be used as a heal if you think you're in danger of being incapped. Just use the appropriate spice that boosts the stats that're drastically low. Spices also stack with foods & that's a BIG plus - however they don't stack with other spices. Again, all spices have their downer side which usually involves a minute or two of puking, major decrease in the stats that particular spice buffed. Some of the higher level spices can scare you if it's time for the downer to hit & you're still in combat because those buffed stats can hit rock bottom when the spice effect time is up. At that point you're vulnerable so it might be nice to have a little timer nearby so that you know how much time you have left before the downer hits. Shooting & puking don't work well together! It takes from 1-5 minutes to fill your stats up again depending on the spice. The bigger the boost in stats, the more drastic the downer. Now on to a list of which spices we can make, what resources are needed & what the effects are. -NOVICE SPICES -Grey Gabaki - +500 Focus for 8+ minutes.15 vegetables5 organicsScramjet - Outlawed spice - +300 Strength for 12 minutes10 meat10 reactive gasShadowpaw - +250 Action, +250 Quickness for 10 minutes25 organics5 metalSPICES I -Giggledust - +300 Action, +300 Quickness, -100 Focus for 10 minutes10 organics5 bones5 flowersSweetblossom - +100 Health, +600 Constitution, -100 Action, -100 Quickness, -200 Focus for 10 minutes10 flowers5 water5 metalYarrock - +200 Mind, +100 Focus, +100 Willpower for 10 minutes10 wood5 cereal5 chemicalSPICES II -Zypolene Droid Lubricant - +250 Health, +250 Strength, +250 Constitution for 10 minutes10 chemical10 gas5 metalPyrepenol - +300 Strength, -100 Quickness, -50 Focus for 10 minutes10 water10 metal5 chemicalSedative H4b - +400 Health, +300 Constitution, -100 Mind, -100 Focus for 10 minutes10 organics10 meat5 metalSPICES III -Crash n' Burn -+400 Mind, +200 Focus, -200 Action, -200 Quickness for 10 minutes15 fruit15 vegetables5 metalGunjack - +500 Strength, -200 Quickness, -100 Focus for 10 minutes15 cereal15 meat1 Carbosyrup (from Dom I in Artisan)Thruster Head - +600 Mind, +200 Focus for 6+ minutes15 chemical15 meat15 gasSPICES IV -Booster Blue - +400 Action, +400 Quickness for 10 minutes15 copper15 chemical15 metalMuon Gold - +500 Mind, +500 Focus, +500 Willpower for 10 minutes15 water15 radioactive15 metal* When the downer hit for this spice my entire Mind pool *poofed* but came back a minute later.Neutron Pixie - +1000 Health, +200 Strength, +200 Constitution, +500 Action, +50 Quickness, +50 Stamina for 13+ minutes15 gemstones15 mineral15 fruitWhere do you get these resources? Well, you have several options. You can buy them in stacks from the Bazaar or from other professions that gather them. OR you can get basic Scout & Artisan & gather themselves. I recommend using points initially to get these skills because they're VERY useful all thru your Smuggler career. You can always drop skills you don't wanter later & replace them with other skills. So I recommend getting Scout & training in Exloration. This will help you move faster when you're out hunting & gathering resources. It also gives you the skill to build camps which are great for healing after fights or while you sample. You also can harvest bones, meat & hides when you're hunting. Also take Artisan & train in Surveying so that you can survey & sample for resources. Buy your tools from another Artisan to start with - General Crafting Tool, Survey tools for water, minerals, gas, organics, & chemicals. A Food & Chemical crafting kit is also nice to have so that you can use two tools to crafter with at the same time and for experimentation at a Food & Chemical crafting station. Some people also train in Engineering so that they can build harvesters. You can also buy harvesters later. But remember that you have a limit of 10 lots per person & you'll probably want a house at some point too. There's also maintenance to add in.Myself, I prefer to survey & sample myself. I find it's a lot cheaper & for my style of play it's faster. I can sample faster than the harvesters & it saves money & lot space. I can also pick & choose which resources to get based on their quality & quantity available.Ok, who will buy & use your spices? Almost everyone that tries them a few times. Free samples are good for business!! PVE'ers & PVP'ers alike will want spices. Medics like the mind enhancing spices. Fighters like the health & action boosting spices. Entertainers like the action spices. Surveyers like either the action or mind enhancing spices, depending on if their species runs out of action or mind first while sampling. Solo'ers & pvp'ers will want to keep a few of each kind in their packs for buffs & emergencies when a certain pool is being hit & they're close to being incapped. The entertainers will look forward to their favorite smuggler coming into the cantina. You'll also find that you're welcome at parties if you bring samples along with your natural dashing personality & good looks that I'm convinced all smugglers have. And if you're really bored, want a laugh & you're feeling a bit sadistic - hand out free samples of mind enhancing spices to the medics in the hospital & watch them all puke together as the downer hits. lol (yes I'm an evil Imperial)Hope this helps a few smugglers out there. _________________MagnaLeader of Veni Vidi Viciwww.vvv-guild.org 06-29-2003 09:44 AM

You're not a smuggler yet? Then I really don't think you can say "the first smuggler on radiant" then =þAh well....it's ok. You know that there's still like another hour to go right? You know how long the maintenance is going to be delaying the upload of the Radiant server. It always seems like Radiant is one of the last ones to be uploaded.
