that's toughmaybe resident evil 2 beating it like a dozen times, or... getting all the dog tags in MGS2 on all difficulties, OR, maybe Goldeneye (yes, even SP) getting all the cheats

I think Banjo Kazooie was the first game I ever played where I really appreciated single player. And then there was Star Fox 64.

Final Fantasy VII probably wins it for me, spent ages on that. Also some of the RPG's on the SNES took up a lot of my time when I spent a year in the middle of nowhere... games like Terranigma, FF6, Lufia 2, Chronotrigger, Secret of Mana etc.I don't find many new games have the same amount of longevity as some of the older ones had.

Final Fantasy VII was prolly the first game I REALLY got into, then there was Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Silent Hill, Armored Core... and the list goes on. Note that I bought games for 20 cent, so I never stayed with one game long.
