Check this game coming out called "Hellgate: London". It's being made by the guys who have done Diablo and other MMORPGs. It looks really cool and has a full single player campaign and has an online element to it as well that might be subscription based, but info hasn't been released on that yet. I still haven't played it very much, but I've gotten a hunter to level 6 so far and its pretty neat. It's not a flawless finish, but the game is decently polished up and has lots of potential. If you don't like pvp, but like the pve in WoW or everquest, LOTRO is a good game for you!
