I thought Snake was the dominant, while liquid screaming "how would you like to be the wastes of another person" or something along those lines. I'm gonna replay mgs2 and figure it all out, that was the weird one (that I disliked the most). Solidus was abit of a weird offshoot, but I'm pretty sure Solidus wasn't a pure clone of big boss, and part of another project (remember, le infants de misrables mentions only liquid and Snake). I'll get back to you after I'm done 8)Aside from that, technology seems to have taken a giant leap between 2 and 4 (the mini robot ocolots in, remember, only large robots have apeard before) aswell as the eyepeice snake had, and if I remember correctly, mgs has had guns similar to the ones we have today, but the one snake has is all futuristic. Theres prolly a genious plot behind it all.

I'm a really die hard fan of the game. If there isn't anything you know or can figure out about the game, just ask me. Also weapons were already advanced in MGS2. Some of the weapons mentioned were years off from the current model of today. I guess now that this is entering into the next decade (2010s) then I guess they are really starting to reflect on the gadgets and gizmos in MGS. You do know that Otacon is an inventor now. Everything he creates, he puts his emblem on it and the Solid Eye is one of the things he designed. I can't really input on the thing he controls (Metal Gear Mark II).

Some of the weapons mentioned were years off from the current model of today.Kinda irrelevant, but just as an interesting fact, most technology and weapons that we have/see are ten years behind the edge of technology.
