Gitaroo-Man Live!

Too bad this sequel is for the PSP (which I don't have), but maybe by the time it comes to the States the PSP will be cheaper!

ooh what is this? wannna give a quid some background information on this game? 
<3 QuidGitaroo-Man is a rhythm game where you actually fight with music. You have the usual health bar, as does your opponent. The Attack phase is how you wear down your opponents health, and the Defense phase is you defending yourself from the enemy's musical attacks. During the Attack phases of a song, you move the left analog stick along a line. While doing so, you press X when inside the little circles, then hold it for whatever period of time is needed...The Defense phases are a little more basic, as all you have to do is hit the corresponding buttons when they reach the center of the screen...I would highly suggest this game to any rhythm fan that has a PS2. However, you might be put off by its quirky, Japanese-style graphics and presentation, but I think that's one of the most unique things about the game. The music is absolutely amazing, as it ranges from acoustic/electric guitar solos to full-on symphony orchestras. I also own the soundtrack, so if you wanna check that out first, lemme know.Sadly, the game is kinda hard to find these days (its initial print run was really limited, and I don't think there's been a reprint), so if you happen to see a used copy at the game store or something, check it out!
