AKIRA LIVE-ACTION!?!?!

Post by Serge »

Well apparently Leonardo DiCaprio likes Akira b/c he got the rights for his movie company to create 2 movies. And I guess he is going to be Kaneda and Joseph Gordon-Levitt is to play Testuo

I would not have thought DiCaprio to be an anime fanboy, so that is kinda cool. I don't know this could go either way. I mean they are good actors but... we shall see. I do believe they are changing a bit though so it's more of an American twist such as it is in Manhattan I think

There is no need to recreate the film, the animation is good as is. If you want it to be successful, you don't recreate it in an American setting; you try and change the audience perception of that media or idea/concept, so the original can then be successful.Modern movie making is mostly taking good ideas and fucking with them in order to cater to a tasteless audience. Serious movie makers should be attempting to broaden the taste and experience of movie goers instead of squashing good media down to the same shitty level of mass market movies.

That in no way expresses the media or the love of it in any way. It's insulting to want to recreate something that is hailed as "the best" and "revolutionary".Here's how I show people that I like something, be it animation, a book or comic: I show them the thing as it was intended, because that is what made it so good and gripping.
