Ok, in response to some questions by people who will be getting the game soon asking, I'll give you the guide to give ya a good start. If you can, print this out, and read it step by step as you start playing. I know it's long, but it will help ya a lot.Step 1) Character CreationThis is up to you, all personal preference. I made a rodian, because I like em. Pick the race you like, check em all out and play with how they look. I looked at all the stat +s and -s, all of the racial special abilities and everything. And even if I was gonna be a brawler, I would have picked rodian. Honestly, you don't know what you want to do yet until you've played. I wanted to be a brawler too, and ended up with going combat medic (may STILL change). Medic was the bottom of my list and the last profession I picked up, it ended up being a pleasant suprise. I've seen some brawlers go entertainer too ...nothing funnier than a Trandoshan entertainer dancing.Step 2) Starting ProfessionWith this I'm going to make a suggestion ...no matter what you want to be, make an artisan. Artisans start out with a geneal crafting tool, some good survey tools, and the ability to make more crafting tools and survey tools. Want to be a marksman? You can make all of your starting weapons as a novice marksman. Medics have all the tools they need to start making medicines, it will make starting out a LOT easier.Step 3) The tutorialTAKE IT! Stat migration in game takes time, it's kinda slow. Say you make that artisan but you really want to be a marksman. Well in the tutorial you can even out all of your stats and it will take effect instantly.I will descibe the stats for ya to help ya migrate em:POOLS: If any of your 3 pools (health, action or mind) reach 0, you are incapacitated.SPECIAL ACTIONS: You will be using them often. So be sure and take care of how much they cost and how fast they regen.Health- Health Pool, it's your red bar. How many hits you can take.Strengh- How much a special health action costs. So say if it's high than a body shot would take less from your health bar. Still important, though, put pts in it.Constitution- How fast you regenerate Health. To me this is more important than Strength. Less down time waiting for health to go back up.Action- Action Pool, it's your green bar. How many hits you can take.Quickness- How much a special action costs. Like STR for Health.Stamina- How fast you regenerate Action. Again I have this one pretty high, I feel regen is more important than how much something costs.Mind- Mind Pool, it's your blue bar. How many hits you can take.Focus- How much a special action costs. Like STR for health and Quickness for Action.Willpower- How fast you regenerate Mind.Do's and Don'ts:Don't gimp 1 stat. People who were in beta might because they know exactly what they want. Trust me, you don't know what you want yet. If you have no health at all, then getting hit once or twice will kill ya. If you gimp mind, 1 headshot and pick your cloning fascility. You get the idea. Personally, I started out with Health, Action and Mind (HAM) at 900. I adjusted and tweaked very little as needed for costs and regen. I had to put some into mind because I found out I loved the medic profession. I jacked up those because I can heal my own Health and Action as needed. But now my Health is 875, Action 875, Mind 880 with those extra 70 pts (900 each, remember?) put into Focus and Willpower. Now I regen pretty fast and I feel I'm perfect for what I want to do- Fighting and healing.Step 4) I'm in game, what now?So you just zoned into Correllia, Coronet City! Get in touch with some people in FoU. To see if someone is on do a /who name. To talk to that person no matter where they are in the galaxy type /tell name message. Now we all know you're here, good. If you need anything we can help ya out.Step 5) Quick cash.Ok, you're here in SWG, we all know you're here in SWG. Now it's time to make a little bit of cash. Don't worry you pussy artisan, you won't die! You're going on 2 DELIVERY missions first. They will both pay under 100 credits, these are missions that make you run around town and converse with people. This will help you get a feel for the town a little bit, and make some money.Don't spend that money! Instead go back to the mission terminal. Now you will be looking for DELIVERY missions between 400-600 credits. These are to different towns. Look at your planet map and pick a city. It will tell you how far you are from it and what direction. DO NOT GO TO KOR VELLA. There are swoops who hang out at the shuttle port and you will die. Every other town is safe to go to though. Grab 2 missions, follow the waypoints to pick up what has to be delivered. Now that you have them you're ready to go to a new town, woohoo!! Type /find shuttle (find command works for cantinas, medical, and other things too). Go to the terminal and buy a round trip ticket to the town where you are delivering to. But the ticket then talk to the droid (looks like a silver C-3PO). It'll tell you when they shuttle will depart. Wait for it to come, when it's finally there click on the droid again and you'll have an option to go to that town. Now you're in a new town. Finish those missions. You just made 800-1200 credits. Minus the 220-250 for the shuttle port. But now go find a mission terminal in the town you're in. Pick up 2 delivery missions back to Coronet City. You just made another 800-1200 credits. Congrats, you're a thousandaire!Step 6) ProfessionsWell, now that you're a thousandair you're probably thinking to yourself "Whiskey and whores! I'm gonna spend it all on whiskey and whores!" No so fast there dumpling. Go look for trainers in scout, medic, marksman, entertainer and brawler. Pick up all of the starting professions. If you don't like something you can always surrender it later anyway, so no worries. This will give you a chance to check out every single profession, get a feel for each one's unique abilities. Sit down, give all of them a try. You'll have new special abilities and attacks right away, go ahead and put em in your hot button banks. Get a real feel for every profession. Make some stimpacks and go heal people, then grab your newly made CDEF carbine and shoot some creatures outside town, then go punch the shit out of a butterfly, then go craft some powerups for your weapons or make a chance cube, then dance a little and play some music. Give all the professions a real shot, you may find that something you thought you'd hate is now a profession you want to do.Now go play, have fun, explore a little.***GENERAL TIPS***These will help you from the get go.1) Commands/addfriend friend name. Makes someone your friend. When they come on you'll get a notification. I have all the FoUsters on my friendslist, you should too./find location. It gives you a bright yellow line to follow. Places like medical, cantina, shuttle, experiment with it to see what all you can /find in town.2) WaypointsOpen up your datapad, look in data and you'll see planets rotating with names under them. Those are waypoints. Bring up the radial menu and select activate if you want to activate it. You'll see a giant shaft of light going up into the sky, and on your radar you'll see a flashing arrow telling you where to go. To make a waypoint open up the datapad and select "New Waypoint". You can name waypoints, destroy them, activate them, or deactivate them. If it's something cool or important you'll want to keep it.3) MapsThere is your green overhead map, and your Planet map. You green overhead will show you buildings around you, and players. With the world map you can find any trainer you're looking for, any shuttle port, or anything inportant on the planet.4) The bankDo a /find bank and head for it, deposit all your credits there. There is an option like "subscribe to bank" or something like that. Basically binds you to that planet's bank. Now you can put items in there. You can buy most things on credit, so when you earn some cash, put it all in the bank. Buying items, tickets and everything else will be deducted from your accout, so don't worry, and don't carry cash on you.5) Death, Insurance and CloningOK, when you start you'll have X# of free clones and free insuring. When you don't anymore you'll get a notification about n00b cloning and insurance running out. When you do, CLONE! OMFG CLONE CLONE CLONE! If you don't , every time you die you'll get wounds and you'll be cloned with injuries. It's a ONE TIME fee of 1000 credits as long as you don't leave the planet. Insurance is something you will have to do over and over again. So when you're going out on a long trek you'll definately want to insure. Or you'll have a corpse with all of your items way out in the boondocks ...not fun.6) TippingTipping means giving someone money. If someone trains you, or heals your wounds, it's a nice gesture to tip them. To do this type /tip person's name amount. If you have no cash on you type /tip person's name amount bank. Like /tip eatmo 100 bank. It costs 5% of the tip to do it from the bank, but who cares, it's a tiny amount.7) Damage and WoundsWhen you get hit, that's damage. No worries, damage regenerates. Wounds on the other hand don't. Part of your bar will be black. Those are wounds. You need a medic or an entertainer. Medics heal the red and green, entertainers heal the blue. Type /find cantina or /find medical to get those fixed. Unless you forgot to clone, you won't have very much usually and will only take a minute of your time to fix. If you fucked up and didn't clone, you're gonna be sittin on your ass a long time getting wounds healed in a cantina or medical building. Again ..CLONE.8) TrainingWoohoo! You just got your first skill. Congrats. You have qualified for X skill, you're ready to be trained ...ok, now how? Well you have to find someone with that skill. Say you just got pistol 1. Look around the bank and other busy areas and say "Can someone train me in pistol 1 please". Normally this is a 2 minute evolution. You need to be in a group to train someone, so they will invite you into a group. Then you will get a prompt "Eatmo Regoats Wants to train you in the following skill: Pistol 1" Click on yes. Congrats, you now have your first skill. With new skills comes new abilities Look through your stuff and see what you have, put it in your hot button bank.9) RadarIt's your new best friend. Fiddle with it to get comfy. Always keep an eye on it when you're out in the wild. The default radar is set for 64m, and has terrain on. I immediately made my radar range 256 (though you will mess with range a lot depending on the situation). Another thing you'll want to do is take the terrain on the radar off. It will make your radar 1 plain color, MUCH easier to read. Radar is all about being able to identify fast, and the radar terrain is just an annoying pain in the ass.10) The InterfaceBy all means, mess with it. Mess with your options settings, press every button, fiddle with every item you have. Get comfortable with the layout. One of the first things I did was set my controls to the EQ style (in options), this made controlling the game 100x easier for me. I also changed the color scheme from basic to Imperial (deep dark blue, easier to see). I spent hours just sitting on my hot rodian ass tweaking everything. There ya go, you have enough info to basically get started. A lot of this will look confusing to you, don't worry. It's not confusing at all when you're looking at it on the screen and have a frame of reference for this stuff. There is tons and tons of things you'll be learning every day in game.
