At one time, but I checked the file for any trace of downloads but there was none left.

That happened to me when I updated my video card drivers once....Updated them recently? And try turning off antialiasing if you have it on........(Right click the desktop, go to settings/advance/YOURCARDNAME/Performance and Quality Settings, and it should be there......Note your card name should be where I put YOURCARDNAME.)

If you just updated your vid card drivers, try rolling back to your old ones. If you haven't updated them in a while, do that and call me in the morning.

I had the same problem when coming back from my 1.04 stupidity, I had to completely remove all trace of the game from my registery settings after uninstalling. Then reinstall after that. Also, I think Des quite rightly pointed out that if you uninstall the game, then reinstall to a totally different location then it will create a whole set of new registery settings and should work ok.
