I'm pretty sure that they bought the game from a store because it's nearly impossible to download an MMORPG and use a valid CD key with an account. :PYou would have to hack into the servers themselves at the game companies headquarters and change the basic structure/data of the game to hack it to your liking. Which is very unlikely that someone could pull something off like that...
