First Day Tales (Better late then never)
First Day Tales (Better late then never)
Okay guys, it was recently, (two weeks ago) the one year anniversary of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided. Since I know that means very little to any of you, I still thought it'd be fun to have everyone share their tales of the first day again. Remember the old days you know.Even if you hate/bash/play the game, it won't hurt to post your stories. Include details, and everything. Ha ha haAnyways, here's my story.Origin of Jorjoh DoffaHaving recently had DSL installed, and lightning fast internet connections at my fingertips (okay, so not lightning fast), I immediately unpacked my case of "Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided". The fresh smell of new game packages, the sweetest smell in the world. Inhaling deeply from my manual, I began to delve into what would become my main game for the course of at least a year. Simply realizing that it was mostly going over my head, I figured I'd install the game, and wing it. I'd played MMO's before, but Runescape is not the same deal. The discs felt crisp and new in my fingers, as I inserted them into the drive. I followed the installation process, and after a lot of waiting, it installed! It was amazing the game was so awesome! I created my character, choosing the Radiant server, and spent less then two minutes trying to think of a character name...(I regret 'Jorjoh', the hell was I thinking?!). Feeling impulsive, I pushed away my anticipated thoughts of being Trandoshan, chose a Zabrak, and scout as my profession. (I thought the clothes were pimp) Lost...and excited!I was immediately whisked away to the tutorial. After a lot of confusion, head scratching, and many many bad words, I slowly learned the basics of the game. Taking the advice I had found on the forums, I jumped on a shuttle to Coronet, Corellia. Boy, was I laggy! Suddenly angered at my misfortune, I figured I might as well explore the city a little. Scared, and a little bit lost, I desperately search for a familiar face. It was then I saw my first FoU'ster in-game. Sevenup was his name, and he was shooting at meatlumps on the outskirts of town. After asking him many, many questions, I learned of /tell's! I then retreated to a vacant alley were I sent my first /tell in-game! To who else, but ole Snapers! The hunt! After asking Snape more questions, I decided it was time to do some hunting. After grouping up with a few players, (I still remember their names), Graco a human marksmen, Aaylia a twi'lek brawler (was almost my in-game wife ), Ife, a cowardly marksmen (still plays to this day, and chat with him occasionally), and Adeen the weaponsmith, and maker of my first weapon, (I lost it eventually, not sure where ). We scoured the outskirts of Coronet, looking for trouble. Man, did we think we were cool, getting beat up by butterflies and durnis . We were crushing all in our path with our amazing CDEF's (donated by Adeen)! Death has a name. Then came the swoopers. It was at this point that our group fell apart. We stumbled across a cadre of swoopers, who were none too happy to see us. The battle ensued, and I don't know how we did it...but we managed to take down a few. We thought we were going to make it out alive, when more spawned and Graco died, Ife seeing we were going to die, abandoned us, like the chicken he was, and Adeen was AFK in a camp a hundred meters away. It was me and Aaylia. We attempted to fight them off...she went out cold, and I was halfway gone. When who should appear, but Kibanno Stinko! A Rodian Apprentice Gunfighter! With guns blazing, he jumped in and saved us from certain doom!AftermathWe retreated to the Coronet Cantina, where I saw GW! I think he was dancing, and I talked to him for a bit. Kibanno was healing his wounds, (200 BF, astounded me as a noob), and then (LD)'d, and we didn't see him after that. Adeen had work, and left us, Ife wouldn't answer us, and Graco was angry at us for letting him die, Aaylia, proclaming me her hero, began to follow me around, kissing me, asking me to be her boyfriend. (Turned out she was actually a 9 year old girl. At least "she" wasn't a 55 year old steel mill worker! ) Anyways...needless to say, I was dirt poor...she met some rich guy. The end of a long day...Well, I was tired, and so was my computer. I had done many things, but had only seen the tip of the iceberg on what was to come in the next year! With a weary, but satisfied heart, I slipped into bed, and dreamed of donuts.FinNow share guys, please! Even if you hate the game, I promise you, the nostalgia of your first day is great!

Holy crap!Jordy, I think your story needs chapters!Anyway, I got SWG a few days after it came out, thinking was gonna be all kick ass and whatnot. So, I install and make my character that looks like a dog. Then I get to the tutorial thing and I start to think "Wow, there's not much lag at all!" Boy was I wrong. Soon as I got into the game, WHAM!, the lag hit me in the face. I thought "Ah, this is just probably cause it's in it's early stages, it'll all get better". So, I wander around, getting aquainted with the SWG world, then "it" happened...CONNECTION TO SWG LOST![/size:e1ea487abb]My first thought was that it was probably a thing that only happened every once in a while. So I logged back on and waited for about 5 mins for it to load, then got back into the game. I played for about 20 minutes, killing things with my shiny new pistol, hoping to become a Pistoleer in the near future. Then, "it" happened again...CONNECTION TO SWG LOST![/size:e1ea487abb]"Hmm, oh well" I thought. So I got back on again, hoping that was the last of random disconnects. But, yet again, I got the same message 2 minutes into the game.A day away from the end of my free 30 day trial, I was still getting the SAME problem. So, it was then and there that I decided to make it my life's work to bash and despise SWG to the best of my ability. And sometimes, when I look at the box, sitting on my desk, all covered in dust, I think "Maybe if I just gave it another sho....Nah....".
Okay, maybe not great for everyone.... Sorry to hear your first day was rotte, Evan! By the way, that doesnt' even have half the detail I could have put into it, and I cut off a lot of it...so it wouldn't be too long, and you punks wouldn't complain "Give me notes! I can't read more then three sentences!!!!!!!!! WAAAAAAAAAH!"
And then Akon was like, Wooohooo! YEEHOOO!

evan's hatred revealed! sucky computeritis!ok here it comes another long tale of bobI had gotten up early that morning of June 26th to get the game, because i was gonna play it all day. So at comp USA i was lucky as there were only a few left. I popped in the discs and.....a horendously long installation took place but i read the entire manual in that time. Then....hell on a stick happened, the infamous 1st day account failures. With the account process stuck at a certain step, i tried tirelessly for hours to try and play my new game for just a second. Unfortunately i couldnt, and neither could many others but i had high expectations the following day. With everything working, i was able to connect to the login screen where i created bobkar. I had known my name was going to be Bobkar Dirthes for almost a year, as i was originally going to play SWG with my 1.04 friends before all ties with them were eventually severed. Nevertheless i created Bobkar in a long time, as i wanted everything to be perfect. As a matter of fact i havent had a single thing about Bobkar changed aside from skin and eye color (and that one time midget made everyone fat).In game i was doing the tutorial but i had overdone it and talked to every single npc there, a feature they eventually got rid of. After the 30 minute tutorial, i was lucky enough to spawn in Coronet. I wandered outside of the gates of the city, fought a few butterflies and laughed at dead people. Eventually i saw Cypher had logged on. i spammed him tells and shit but...it turned out....it wasnt cypher at all but some random person, which caused cypher to use a ' in his name. at the bank i ran into hobar, but i didnt know it at first. His name was Jeffery Scott and he recognized me. We hunted some stuff but a swooper eventually killed him, and that was the last time Jeffery existed. Hobar shortly created a new guy, Hobarese Scottie. While hobar was doing that i took of my padded jacket, pants, and boots, and pranced about, and a trando brawler laughed at me. I wish i remembered his name but i didnt and never saw him again. I went to a cantina and met a fish entertaner named Cotas. he was happy when he saw me, because not too many fish had passed by. I only saw him a few times after, but i have a strong feeling he might have rerolled into Cota, a fish who still plays and is imp. Or his name could have been cota and i just think its cotas now but yeah... When i saw hobarese he was by the cloner, and we started running around in our underwear until we found a wookiee who was in beta and explained screenshots to us, where i took my first one ever. i didnt see that and many screens later because the wookiee lied, he said they didnt auto save to the folder but much later i found out they really do. Anyway the next event was huge in fouster history. a certain guy named juggalo messaged me and gave me his coordinates. I was fortunate to have those coordinates because i swear it took me days to find my way back to the starport without using /find. There i saw he and crash and crash was farting, or so i saw. In reality he was harvesting tefai, and from that point on we had established the Alley Base and i still have the original waypoint. Our alley turned out not to be for fousters only as many avid tefai surveyers ended up our way, i still have gas and chem from that fabled strip of land.i could go on and ramble about other fouster chapters in history, including the corellian houses, the exodus to naboo, the land of legion, journey to the center of naboo, the line of kaadara, flight to tatooine, the search for a city, birth of praxeum, and soon enough a new chapter might be added.

hmm, thats funny evan cause they told ppl who had that problem that they have troubles with their firewalls to merely reset it and problems go away...No!See, i'm connected to a router that has a built in firewall. It is UNREMOVABLE and UNCHANGEABLE.So I would probabaly STILL be having those problems if I were still playing today...

yay TRawl Bladewielderwell it was the day after releaseso after a luncheon feasti wandered down to EB gamesalas only one special edition remainedmy want was so greati bought it, matefor 30 extra dollarsmy wallet made a hollarbut yay, i had the 2 x 1 ft wonderinstallation caused no blunderi was so happyso much i did a lil fappyand character creation was no drawland finally i created trawlso basically i thought that you were able to have more than one character per server, so trawl was like my test character. so i go rifles 4 in the marksman tree with him because of the glitch in the corellia city and then i found out there was a 1 character limit per server and basically i didnt want to start over and basically i hated my character and his name forever more. but anyways back the the first day....trawl was created and all corellian cities were fulll so i started on tatooine. mos eisly i believe, the city with the ship as a cantina. boy i was excited but lost. i knew no ones name. until somehow i got in contact with bob. he said all known fousters were in corellia and he sent me that wonderous waypoint....the alley. i figured i needed some cash to fly to corellia so i took a destroy mission. i had to destroy a nest of those flying things outside of mos eisly. i got 2k credits for my reward and flew to coronet. there it took me awhile to get the waypoint to turn on and alas i was on my way to the alley. there i met up with bob and we waited for a few others to show up. tired from the days work i logged off. and that was my journey....
