Half-Life²: Spoilers Abound!
Half-Life²: Spoilers Abound!
Finished this a few days ago, not sure when.Didn't see a thread like this anywhere, and wanted to talk a bit about the story. Since I assume anyone who has Half-Life 2, by now, has passed the game, I'm just going to ask what everyone thought of the story. As for me, there were a few different ways I looked at the story. The first being...well, how you would read any story. Was the story very interesting, or suprising. I'll be argued over this, but I actually liked the story; when I look at it as a story, that is. There were myriad plot-holes and the game got quite repetitive in some parts. The thing that I really liked was the sense of immersion into the game. It was amazing in that everything was interactive. The story itself was slow, boring, and predictable, but I suppose a predictable story can mean that it's a story that people enjoy. The ending is absolutely what is killing me here. I have two feelings towards it as well.It was good, because it suprised the hell out of me. And then, I hated it cos it was so abrupt, and I want to know what happened to Alyx, Eli and Mossman. The more I thought through it, I somewhat like the way it is open-ended. I hated it, so much! I was upset...it was one of the few games that left me with a hollow feeling. It's a great ending for another sequel, though. I suppose that is so that VALVe can exploit $50 more dollars out of a sweaty fan-boy like me. Incredibly crazy how the G-Man just shows up then."We might still have..."*freeze*"...time?"Incredible game, in my opinion. Atmosphere, the story (while slightly stale, and pointless), was enjoyable just because it allowed me to see different things in the game.I felt that my $60 was well spent. The ending is still driving me to no end of anger, but I guess I'll just have to wait for Half-Life²: Aftermath=p
And then Akon was like, Wooohooo! YEEHOOO!
Maybe it was just me, but did the ending where the G-Man walks off, "Until then, this is where I get off" look exactly like the structure for the opening traincar?I mean, the door that opens and walks out looks like the exact same placing as the opening. Lots to chew over, and I like that you can draw your own conclusions. I thought that, though. That he takes you right back to the car you started in...or something. Like you never left, and...wow, too much thinking.Another thing that I was thinking about that was kind of weird. The G-Man seems to be able to control time and everything, and...he looks a bit like Gordon. Then I noticed this:Gordon FreemanG-ManI mean, just how the G-Man shows up at the oddest times, and then if you spotted the G-Man talking to a Resistance member in the game, and he shows up as the Dark Energy reactor blows up, he stops time to extract you. Like he knows when you are in danger, or something...

Like he knows when you are in danger, or something...Gotta pop in before we start on that. I read a lot about this, and while I dont have a link, this has been proven false. G-man stands for Government-man, and this guy is working for some other goverment off of earth. Whether the government is rogue, friendly, or using you for the time being to destroy the combine... well... thats still to be though about. I really don't feel like putting too much explanation into the backround right now (due to I haven't slep in awhile, fewk its like 11:20 am right now..) but I will later. I'm glad the subject arised, as me and Viper would always talk about the HL story, from HL1, throughout HL2, and beyond. And as far as the train goes, yes, its a train. Exactly how HL1 ends, except the train at the end is completely noticable then. Sadly those who didn't play/beat HL1 wouldn't totally understand this, and anyone whos a true fan of the HL series will go back and play/beat it! It gives a lot of hidden info to be thought about!
I'm trying to finish Half-Life: Source! Then, I heard there's many, many variants of it. Too many games to play! And, honestly, though, I'm not being bitter or anything, but you can't prove anything true or false unless you wrote the story. I have lots of theories, too, and I'm still trying to work out all that is given. There are a lot of conclusions that you could come to by what is written.

There are a lot of conclusions that you could come to by what is written.I've done my homework, and get most of my info from the official Prima guide! As a side note, everyone should check this out.http://www.halflifesource.com/forums/sh ... =1&pp=15To sum it up, this guy claims that the events of the Half-life series are real, and hes a scientist that works for Black Mesa. He even posts pics of "real" headcrabs on page 83...*Edit* Check this out. Its the G-Man music video. Its fucking brilliant...http://www.machinima.org/paul_blog
I read somewhere that G-Man was because they couldn't think of a name and the npc AI is called Gman in the console because I read somewhere that it was shorter than G-Man.About the G-Man, he is in a lot more places than you think in HL2. I've seen him like four times before highway 17. One is on the monitor in either Kleiner's lab or in Black Mesa East. Then I'm sure there are 2 instances where he's on one of the empty docks during the whole airboat phase. I honestly don't remember the other time but... Yeah...I haven't beaten HL yet, but on HL:S you can skip to the end, and well let's just say if you don't choose his offer to work for him, it really is a battle you have no chance of winning. The end of HL also refers to the beginning of HL2. When the G-Man is going RiSe AnD ShInE, the little white lines that zoom behind him are from the ending of HL when they're somehow on the Black Mesa train in.... Space I think...
OK GW i read a bunch of posts by the doctor guy who claims The entire story to half life is real. And i saw the pic f the head crabs. And i personally dont think he would really be releasing out this info to the public. Due to the fact that you would think this kind of information would be top secret. He does however sound very convicing because of his writing style. And it would make you wonder if tnay of this is real, then the creators of half life would know it. Because there is no way in hell that they could make a game with characters based off of real people and aliens exactly the same as that pic. So its either a hoax by Sierra or its true, if it is true i say We spread the word and cause a mass panic .
